Rural Daily Briefing

Write for us

We welcome pitches that help general readers understand rural work, land use, food production or rural enterprise. A useful proposal has a clear subject, a defined reader question and a reason the piece can stand on its own.

What makes a strong pitch

Send a concise summary of the proposed piece, its central point and the category it fits. Explain what a reader will understand after reading it, note any limits or local variation, and identify sources or materials that could support factual claims. We welcome explainers, comparisons, histories and carefully framed practical pieces that do not require professional advice.

Before sending

Avoid broad proposals that promise to cover everything, unsupported claims, promotional copy and topics whose usefulness depends on local rules or specialist checks. Proposals are sent through the Contact page; choose the editorial question option and include your pitch in the message.

Our approach

Good rural reporting starts with the details

We separate what is known from what is uncertain, and explain the choices behind rural work without pretending one approach fits every place.
